Torque Transducer

Torque Transducer, Measuring Platform and Torque-Wrenches

  • highly accurate measurement
  • large measuring range
  • in-process control with torque transducers

The selection of a suitable torque-transducer is basis for the setting-, supervision and control of screwdrivers, as well as the testing of screw-connections and a screw-joint analysis.

Here are several examples for the use of a suitable measuring instrument based on the process reliability requirement:

Example 1:
An Operator assembles the same screw repeatedly with a DEPRAG air-operated MICROMAT or MINIMAT Screwdriver. Through the driver shut-off when the preset torque is reached, the assembly is controlled and assured to be accurate.
In certain intervals, the screwdrivers are cross-checked using torque-transducers and if deviations occur, re-adjustments can be made.
For those tests, we recommend, the installation into a calibration laboratory or the construction of a mobile measuring cart.

Example 2:
In a fully automatic assembly station, the regular testing of stationary screwdrivers is necessary. The DEPRAG torque wrenches in straight and angle-design, allow the mobile use when testing screwdriver-spindles without their removal  from an assembly station. The torque-wrenches can also be used for the re-tightening or loosening of already assembled fastener.

Example 3:
Torque Transducer measure the torque directly on the product and transmit the relevant torque-values of the tested screw-joint to a host machine-controller or to a data collection device. The screwdriving process is fully controlled, which is essential for products with a high safety requirement. When connected to a DEPRAG measuring  instrument, this transducer is ideal for torque  acquisition and screw joint analysis and are an important component for the optimum quality assurance.

Example 4:
An in-process measurement can also be performed through the use of the air-operated, transducerized Screwdrivers of the series MICROMAT/MINIMAT-C, or by the current-controlled, electric screwdrivers MICROMAT/MINIMAT-EC or even by using the electronically controlled screwdrivers with integrated transducer of the series MICROMAT/MINIMAT-EC-Servo.
In those cases, the torque-measurement is already integrated into the screwdriver itself. EC-Screwdrivers are used where products are assembled which require the highest process reliability.

The suitable measuring instruments or our manual torque-transducers can be found in PDF Product Catalog D 3022 or you can find Measuring Instruments for the use in stationary applications in the PDF Product Catalog D 3024.

For the support of our screwdrivers, we offer a suitable, process reliable parallelogram arm, which is shown in our PDF Product Catalog D 3340.

External rotary, non-contact transducer

The external rotary, non-contact transducer in connection with a DEPRAG measuring instrument is the ideal system for your torque-acquisition and documentation for all screw-joints and assembly requirements.

The torque acquisition and screw-joint analysis can be done directly on your products - even during the assembly process.
Our external rotary, non-contact transducers satisfy the highest process requirements and are part of an optimum Quality Assurance.

Measuring Platform

Stationary measuring platforms are best used in a calibration laboratory on a mobile calibration cart. The robust and solid design assures a continued high measuring-accuracy. As an optional accessory, we offer a clamping-plate, which allows the temporary clamping of the measuring platform into a vice. For specially high accuracy demands, or when trying to obtain extremely low torque values, we recommend to mount the platform with its polished lower surface to a table top, which has been treated in a similar fashion. Because of such an extreme high grade installation, even the smallest measuring errors, created by lateral force, deflection, vibration, or misalignment, can be completely avoided.

Torque Wrench

Torque wrenches allow the testing of stationary screwdriver-spindles without their removal from an assembly station. Because of the incorporated flat surfaces on the side of the wrench head, our torque wrenches can be temporarily clamped into a vice. In connection with the corresponding torque measuring instrument (DME 200 PC/DME 200 DMS-PC), the torque wrenches can also be used for the testing of a screw connection already, by either tightening or loosening the connection. DEPRAG torque measuring systems combine the application-variety of conventional torque wrenches with the precision and the capabilities of today's most modern electronic measuring technology.

The mechanical torque wrenches (manual indicator design) can be used for simple adjustment- or control tasks. To obtain the torque of a screw connection, simply re-tighten the fastener. The use of a mechanical torque wrench allows the fast and simple estimation of tightening torque-values.
